Here are some recommendations for a sustainable aquaculture development and management
  1. Land-based fish farming
Encourage more land-based fish farming, rather than ocean-based fish farming to protect the ocean and ecosystem.

  2. Bring in new technologies
Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to help mitigate the risks associated to fish farming, as well as to manage the fish farm efficiently. This will help address these challenges through a combination of artificial intelligence, sensor data integration, and predictive analytics to help land-based farmers maintain fish and ecosystem health. Technology advancements will also help support environmentally conscious fish production.

  3. Regulations and Legislation
Establish regulations and legislation as well as frequent monitoring of aquaculture operations at the sites to ensure the companies follow standards and good practice. Heavy penalties should be imposed to companies that violate the laws.

  4. Facilitate or support the development of small-scale aquaculture fish producers
Small-scale aquaculture operations offer more sustainable and efficient operations compared to large-scale producers. Small-scale operations might also help improve socioeconomic of rural and coastal communities.
