Help make a difference in a farmer's life
Please help us help the farming community in Africa and South East Asia get access to a sustainable power source, water pumps, portable ponds and feed, some of the most basic yet crucial needs most SME farmers lack.
Nearly 60% of the world’s fish production comes from SME farmers who feed over 2.5 billion people globally. Unfortunately, due to the complex challenges faced by the farming community, many of these hard-working farmers cannot access some of the most basic needs of their farming operations. Water is the most important source of fish farming. Without it, the fish farming community cannot exist. Many farmers try to build their farms close to sources of freshwater such as aquifers or rivers. An adequate amount of clean water can help a farm thrive, whereas a lack of it can lead to disastrous outcomes. Delivering water from the source of water to the ponds has always been challenging. Water pumps are commonly used, but they rely on electricity. Unfortunately, reliable and uninterrupted electricity is a commodity many farmers do not benefit from. Power interruptions lead to pump failures and a lack of water recirculation. This lack commonly leads to quick build-up in dangerous water parameters causing mass fish mortality events. Farmers lose their stock and everything they spend on raising their stock.
We have been moved and inspired by many such events and experiences of SME farmers, including those who live in some of the poorest parts of the world. We have established our farmer sponsorship program to help farmers who face daily challenges make ends meet. Such as farmers facing difficulties accessing renewable power sources to operate their water pumps without the need to burn fuel and those who can’t afford to replace their damaged pumps. This support also includes providing access to resources or capital needed to pay for fish feed and maintain farming operations. We also hope to help those who live in regions where tsunamis and earthquakes have impacted, and in more recent times, climate change-related disasters, from severe droughts or extreme floods. Our sponsorship program is not a charity but a movement to empower farmers, especially those in Africa and South East Asia.
